A lone soul that loves to be romantic. Give me a sip of your love, I’ll bestow every drop of my ocean on you.
After reading about Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov (both by Dostoevsky), the same question keeps clouding my mind:
What if Alvosha, Mitya, and Ivan were elements of one person, consecutively representing morality, curiosity, and thoughts? And then another element, Raskolnikov from Crime and Punishment, represents the emotions of that person: guilt, resentment, and impulse. How could they coexist?
Maybe, like a never-ending storm that sometimes gets dense and sometimes weaker. Or a cold ocean that screams but never loudly?
Ivan would inspire something, Raskolnikov would commit it. Alyosha and Mitya would collide with them, then Ivan and Raskolnikov would suffer a mental breakdown as their drive fails to silence conscience, leading to a coexistence of suffering and redemption.
What do you think? I’d love to know.
Thank you for reading ~
